Which kinds of fruits contain the most pesticides?

According to a recent study published in the journal Environmental Research, some types of fruit are more likely to have higher levels of pesticide residues than others. The study found that conventionally grown strawberries and raspberries had significantly higher concentrations of pesticides compared to organic versions of these fruits, while tomatoes, bell peppers, apples, grapes, and blueberries had comparable levels regardless of their certification type. The authors recommend choosing organically grown produce when possible, as it can help reduce exposure to potentially harmful chemicals found in conventionally grown crops.

Which kinds of vegetables contain the most pesticides?

Another recent study published in the journal Environmental Research analyzed data from 47 studies conducted between 2005 and 2019 and found that non-organic peaches, nectarines, strawberries, celery, grapes, cherries, and pears were among those with the highest levels of pesticide residues.
This is likely due to their thin skins or high surface area relative to weight, which makes them more susceptible to contact with chemicals used in farming. The study also found that non-organic tomatoes had some of the lowest levels of pesticide contamination compared to other commonly consumed vegetables.
